Start by starting. 

As a blogger, this is a phrase I hear A. LOT. From attending conferences and workshops, to hearing motivational speeches from top lady entrepreneurs or interviews on podcasts, start by starting  is advice that is shared often.

And that's because you can't get what you want without starting. It's literally impossible to make your dreams come true if you don't start working toward them. It'd be awesome if we could simply snap our fingers and make things happen, but it unfortunately doesn't work that way. Ya gotta burn to earn.  And you can't earn without starting somewhere. 

Are you dreaming about reaching a goal, but are too scared to get started? Maybe it's going back to school, or just going to school in general. Joining a gym. Saving money. Starting your own business. Buying a house. Creating a blog. Dating. The list goes on. We all secretly have one thing we want to do, whether it's big or small. But we avoid starting because something new can be scary. Or maybe because we're afraid of failure or commitment. 

Remember how we just chatted about facing fear? If the reason you are avoiding starting is because of fear,  read this to help you face it. 

Here's what you need to know: You can't accomplish anything without starting. Whether it is something simple like cleaning out your closet, or something more complex like redesigning your website. If it's a goal you have, it can only happen if you begin. 

And if starting something new really scares the crap out of you, stresses you out or gives you anxiety, then start small.  Whether you like it or not, you will have to start somewhere if you want your goals to reach completion and your dreams to come true. So by starting small, you can take baby steps until whatever it is doesn't seem so scary anymore and you can eventually come at it full force. 

So meet with an academic advisor. Go to that kickboxing class. Buy that plane ticket. Write your first chapter. Start by starting.  Because you'll never know until you try.
