How to Take a Jumpsuit From Day to Night

August 10, 2018

In case you missed it, I was freaking out last week when I found these amazing jumpsuits at Walmart for only $16! They're super soft and flattering and I may or may not have bought all five colors. (oops)

If you're like me and have a pear-shaped figure, jumpsuits (and rompers) are ROUGH. I feel like I try on a million before finding one that finally looks good. If it's not too tight in the front, it's too loose on the top, etc. etc. etc. all the way home. So per usual, I tried on these jumpsuits with ZERO faith that they would work, but surprisingly, they did! Which is more of a reason to get lots of colors because it's not everyday I get this lucky in the jumpsuit department.

Wearing a jumpsuit can be intimidating in general if it's not a piece you typically keep in your closet. But the secret I've learned is that they're actually a lot easier to style than you think! For today's post, I'm styling one of these jumpsuits to show you how you can take the piece from day to night. Working during the day but enjoying a margarita with your girls at night? I gotchu.

I've picked this black and white striped jumpsuit to show you how to style it both ways. Let's do this!

Jumpsuit: Time and Tru from Walmart | Blazer: LC Lauren Conrad | Shoes: Walking Cradles Gwen Sandal | Earrings: LOFT Outlet

DAY
Whether you work in a business professional or casual workplace, you can DEFINITELY make a jumpsuit work. My job has a business casual dress code, so although I could get away with wearing this jumpsuit by itself with some sandals, I still want to look polished and professional. I put on a coral red LC Lauren Conrad blazer with Walking Cradles black peep toe sueded mules and gold statement earrings from LOFT Outlet. These three pieces take the basic jumpsuit to a professional level that is still fun and colorful!

Jumpsuit: Time and Tru from Walmart | Jacket: LOFT | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Mini Sofia Crossbody | Shoes: Universal Thread Lissa Slide Sandals from Target

NIGHT
If you're hitting the town for tacos and margs with your lady gang, or seeing a movie with your boo, by simply swapping a few pieces in this look, you can take it from corporate girl boss to happy hour chic. I switched out the red blazer for a LOFT denim jacket and kicked off the heels for some Universal Thread brown peep toe slide sandals from Target. I also added my Rebecca Minkoff colorful tassel bag as a playful accessory. Simple enough for any fun nighttime activities!

Jumpsuits are statement pieces all on their own, but the key to feeling confident enough to rock one is tailoring it to your own personal style. You'll feel most comfortable that way.

How will you be wearing a jumpsuit?

Work it,
