Falling for Fall fashions

October 13, 2017

If you can't already tell, I'm fall OBSESSED and feel absolutely no shame about it. Bring on the flannels, fall scented candles and pumpkin spice EVERYTHANG because this is the season where I THRIVE.

With the fall feels all around us, I'm getting sucked into the fashion excitement at full force! I've been cleaning my closet out like a mad woman, and let me just tell you that it's WAY easier to say adios to the spring/summer wardrobe pieces you've been hoarding for decades when all you want is FALL.

For today's post, I put together a look made up of both new and thrifted finds that feature some top trends for fall I think you're going to love!

Bell sleeves and embroidery: two trends that unless you don't get out much, you've probably seen EVERYWHERE. This grey sweater from LOFT combines the best of both worlds, with wide bell sleeves and an embroidered flower design on both arms. It's a chunky material with a banded bottom and a rounded neckline. It's a total fall statement piece.

I've picked up a few skirts while thrifting within the last month that I think will be very versatile pieces for fall. This Level 99 olive green skirt is a cargo material that's stretchy and comfortable. It pairs perfectly with my sweater! It was a $10 find and I can see myself wearing it with sweaters, jackets and more.

For shoes, I LOVE these BC gold glitter booties that I think I've talked about on the blog before. They were a $5 Goodwill find a few years back, but I wear these every year. A closet fave on my end! I love how they paired with this look because they are still a neutral color, but give the outfit an extra POP.

My vintage gold tassel necklace is a simple piece that can be worn again and again. It works great with this outfit because it accessorizes the look, but doesn't stand out too much where it takes away from the other key elements I'm playing up in this ensemble.

The pieces that can be worn multiple ways are a closet NECESSITY; as I've been cleaning out my closet and buying new things for fall, I'm really trying to stick with items that can be used to create many looks and passing on the things I will only wear once. This skirt is a great example of a piece that can be used in plenty of different outfit combinations. The sweater is definitely on the statement piece side, but I can also see myself wearing it more ways than one.

Moral of the story: when picking out new fall fashions, make investments in pieces that will become the best kind of assets to your closet. The outfit creation process will be WAY more fun that way!
