Star spangled style

Light the sparklers, fashionistas; it's almost the 4th of July!

JULY... can you BELIEVE it?! Summer is already flying by. But the season officially heats up this holiday weekend with the best of summertime activities. Barbecues, beach days and fireworks... whatever you're doing this 4th, it's going to be FUN!

When I think of patriotic style, I think casual, relaxed, breezy and simple summer clothing. Since the holiday is typically spent outdoors, you want your look to compliment the day. Denim boyfriend shorts and a soft tee are perfect for time on the lake or a backyard barbecue.

If you prefer a sundress like I do from time to time, I styled a look for today's post with current pieces you can find in stores now. This dress is perfect for a parade or picnic!

Dress: Old Navy | Jacket: Old Navy | Sandals: Rock and Candy | Bag: Betsey Johnson
This bright red embroidered dress is from Old Navy and is the perfect piece for the occasion. The material is light to keep you cool in the summer sun and obviously the colors are PERFECT for the 4th! Embroidered details are here, there and everywhere this season, so this is a piece you can continue to wear throughout the summer- it's not just for July!

I'm carrying along my Old Navy white denim jacket for when the sun goes down and the air gets cool. There's nothing better than snuggling up under the fireworks! My brown sandals are an ankle strap block heel with a fringe tassel detail on the zipper. They are the brand Rock and Candy and I found them at DSW on clearance; the perfect boho sandal to dress up an outfit.

I accessorized with bright red sunglasses from LOFT and my go-to patriotic bag from Betsey Johnson. I opted for a simple look that doesn't scream RED, WHITE and BLUE in your face, but still celebrates the theme. Plus, these pieces together cost less than $50 with my smart shopping tactics!

There's plenty of time left this weekend to pick out your perfect 4th of July outfit. Whatever you decide on, make it festive and comfortable!

O say, can you see,
