Convertible swimsuit cover ups

June 23, 2017

You either love it or you hate it, but like it or not, it's time to face the facts: it's swimsuit season.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly jumping for joy to throw on my bikini. (You can ask my yearly total of donuts why.) But, I do LOVE to swim and visit the beach, so I'd say it's a fair trade.

What's that I hear? Someone is saying "wait, what about me? I like to swim but don't want to ALWAYS be showing off my swimsuit!"

Oh, HA. That's me talking.

Who says if you're hitting the beach but not catching the waves that you still have to show off your suit? And I'm not talking about your birthday suit, unless you're into that sort of thing.

Today I'm talking about swimsuit cover ups and how they can easily be converted for a long day at the lake/beach/you name it. By finding a cover up that is a convertible piece, you can have easy access by wearing your swimsuit underneath, but you can still style a fashionable outfit for the times when you're not in the water.

If you're planning a beach or pool day with the Fourth of July coming up, you'll want to get in on this! Here's how I used this fun Francesca's cover up to double as a tank top:

First off, aren't the graphics on this cover up ADORABLE?! I originally saw this piece online and knew it was a summer necessity. I'll take one of each of these floats, please!

You already know I'm graphic tee obsessed, so I thought this cover up would be a fun alternative option to the lace dress cover up I typically wear. This piece is the perfect length to cover up your suit, but it can also double as a tank for other beach activities that don't involve water. I tucked it into a pair of light wash denim shorts from New York and Company. (A $6 find from a resale store!)

I finished the look with a pair of circle sunnies from LOFT, LC Lauren Conrad rose gold slide sandals from Kohl's and a straw pom pom tote from SheIn. I love that this look keeps it casual for a relaxing day by the water. The cover up is easy to throw on and pairs well with the rest of my summer essentials.

The cover up was $24 in stores, but if you shop at Francesca's this week, they are having a mix and match sale! Any clothing or accessory items, both regular price and clearance, can be mixed and matched for buy one, get one half off! I found a clearance watch for $10, so it was only $5 with my cover up purchase! If you're shopping online, they also have a buy one, get two for 40% off deal at the moment.

My LOFT sunglasses are currently on sale for only $9.99 and the rose gold sandals are on sale for $14.99- plus you can get $10 off a $30 Kohl's purchase this weekend with the promo code SCORE. (You're welcome!) My bag is sold out, but I linked a few similar totes later in this post.

You can shop pieces I featured in this look below, and I also included some other cover up options that double as a kimono, dress and romper. You don't have to worry about planning a separate outfit for the beach because I got you covered! (HA, get it?)

Beach style has been HUGE on the trend radar the past two summers and I'm LOVING it. So many chic pieces that can double as options for a casual outfit. Personally, I love kimonos with my suit for a day at the lake because they can also be paired with a loose pair of boyfriend jeans and sandals for when I'm stuffing my face with fish and chips later in the evening; the BEST! Which ones are your faves?

Belly flop,
