Confidence boost: One up your spring denim

March 23, 2017

What's the one thing in fashion that will never go out of style?!

No, not Crocs. (Sorry not sorry) (RIP Crocs)

Denim is our tried and true friend that will always be there, even when we wish it would just go away because leggings are comfier.

Lucky enough, denim trends seem to change each season, so that may be why we never get tired of it. This spring's trends are a lot of fun and will not only revamp your denim game, but will also boost your confidence with comfortable, easy-to-wear looks.

Today, with inspiration from Dia&Co., I'm going to help you say goodbye to boring old denim and hello to the new spring trends AND a more confident you!

TREND ONE | Embroidered

Jeans: Belle & Sky from JCPenney | Top: Joe Fresh | Sandals: LC Lauren Conrad from Kohls
Okay, anyone else OBSESSED with this trend?! Embroidered jeans remind me of my childhood, except it's all about floral patterns instead of having Tommy Hilfiger written down the leg. (No, YOU owned a pair of those.)

I love this pair from JCP because the colors are spring-friendly. I paired them with a simple Joe Fresh lilac tee and LC Lauren Conrad rose gold slide sandals. I recommend making the rest of your outfit simple like this so the jeans can really stand out.

TREND TWO | Accessorize your jacket

Jacket: Old Navy | Jeans: a.n.a. from JCPenney | Shirt: Lou and Grey | Pins: Forever 21
Get ready for your plain denim jacket to get a makeover because it's all about the accessories this spring! Pins, patches and more embroidery are just a few of the changeups this classic silhouette is seeing.

I found this breakfast pin set at Forever 21. It features an egg, toast and coffee. What I really love about pins is that you can express yourself one step further in fashion through them. Food pins are the real deal, but if you shop around at vintage stores or hit up some Etsy shops, you can find a pin for pretty much anything. It's a way to show what you love by incorporating them into your wardrobe.

TREND THREE | Dressed up distressed

Jeans: a.n.a. from JCPenney | Top: Moa Moa from Ross Dress for Less | Earrings: Sugarfix by Baublebar from Target |  Sandals: Kenneth Cole Reaction
Remember the days of $60 distressed jeans and Abercrombie hoodies? I'm over it. But I'm not over the distressed look and either is the fashion universe. Except now it's acceptable to dress up those dress down pants. ( Plus it's cheaper!- I found these jeans on clearance for $17 )

Pairing distressed jeans with a nice blouse or shirt and accessories really takes the pants from drab to fab. This Moa Moa pink bell sleeve top from Ross Dress for Less is the perfect spring blouse to pair with these a.n.a. ripped jeans. I also added on Sugarfix by Baublebar tassel earrings and Kenneth Cole Reaction grey block heel sandals to complete the look. It officially makes distressed denim look like the good guy!

*****

There's nothing wrong with changing up your wardrobe this season for a confidence boost. Sometimes it just takes that one perfect new pair of denim to make you realize why you're avoiding all the others in your closet. It's time to step out of your comfort zone and give new trends a try!
