My Experience With Zenni Optical

February 21, 2019

It's time to talk about something that has NEVER been talked about before on the blog- glasses!

Believe it or not, I'm nearsighted, but you don't see me wearing my glasses very often. I just recently got my eyes checked again after almost four years. The change in my prescription was very minimal, but I figured I'd find a new pair of frames to go with my new lenses. The problem was I couldn't find the style I was looking for at LensCrafters.

I continued putting off glasses shopping AGAIN until a friend of mine recommended Zenni Optical. She told me they had a variety of styles and they were super affordable! I won't lie- after paying over $100 for new glasses each time I visited the eye doctor, I was a little skeptical at first. I was thinking the prices were too good to be true!

After doing a lot of reading and research on their website, I decided to give it a shot and order a pair. I'm sharing my experience on the blog today; and I will start by mentioning that this post is not sponsored in any way.

First things first, you will want to set up a Zenni account! This is super beneficial because you can not only save frames you like, but you can also save your prescription information for whenever you want to order a new pair of glasses. Make sure you ask your eye doctor to provide you with your prescription information. The paperwork I got from LensCrafters was easy to read and plug in to my account.

The only manual work you will have to do when setting up your prescription information on Zenni is to measure your pupillary distance, or PD. I had my dad help me by using a ruler. With the ruler against your brow, line up zero over the center of your left pupil. The number over your right pupil is your PD. (In mm.) Zenni provides a helpful infographic for measuring your PD here.

Once you have all of your prescription information plugged in and ready to go, you can start shopping for frames! I knew I wanted a style that had a "rose crystal" look- transparent frames with a hint of pink. I found the Cat-Eye Glasses in Pink (662819) and they were exactly the style I was looking for. The Zenni website makes it easy to get a feel for what the glasses will look like on your face. Zenni's Frame Fit try-on allows you to upload a photo of yourself and virtually try on different frames.

If you're still a little skeptical about whether or not you will like the glasses on your face, Zenni offers a 30-day return policy for a 50% refund OR you can get a 100% store credit and pick out something different. I loved knowing I have this option, just in case.

What a lot of people ask me is, "is that really the price?"  Truthfully, the price you see is the bulk of the cost! The only variations in cost would be add-ons, such as a higher index, lens tint, blue light protection, polarization or photochromic lenses. The more add-ons you need, the higher the cost, obviously. Standard and mid-index are free, and the standard blue light protection is only an additional $16.95. But all of these options are your choice, so if you have a basic prescription like I do, the price stays very low. I paid $30 total for my first pair of Zennis, and that was after shipping!

I paid a little extra for shipping to get my glasses sooner, and they arrived in about a week. When they arrive, they come in a protective case with a cleaning cloth. I was afraid the glasses would feel cheap or flimsy, but not even close. They are a solid pair of glasses.

What I love about Zenni is their variety of options and low prices. Instead of having only one pair of glasses, I can now afford a few different pairs and can switch off depending on my outfit or what I'm in the mood for. There are a few other pairs I already have my eye on (ha, get it?!), including the Square Glasses in the color Tea (7814019) and the Square Glasses in Tortoiseshell (188325). My experience with Zenni has been great; my glasses fit perfect and I ended up loving them on my face. I can't wait to order more!

If you need new glasses but don't want to pay the typical  high prices, I highly recommend giving Zenni a chance. I was pleasantly surprised, and I hope you will be, too!

And SURPRISE- I'm even giving you a referral code, friend! Click here for $5 off your first pair!

Can't wait to see you in your new Zennis!

Brilliant,
