A casual approach to Fourth of July style

July 3, 2016

Hi there, stylish readers!

I can't believe it's already July- didn't the summer just begin?! Although it seems to be flying, the Fourth of July is like hitting the top of the summertime roller coaster; there's still so much to enjoy!

Speaking of the Fourth, for today's blog post I put together four different outfit ideas for the holiday. Instead of playing with crazy american flag patterned clothing, these outfits I put together keep it casual while still staying true to the festive colors. Plus, they are budget-friendly. (WIN!)

If you're looking for some last minute red, white and blue inspiration, you'll want to keep reading...

1 | White & chambray

Top: Mossimo Supply Co. from Target | Capris: Loft (Similar) | Shoes: New York & Company | Necklace: Walmart

This outfit is a soft approach to red, white and blue. I paired white denim capris from Loft with a chambray neck blouse from Target, white cut-out wedges from New York & Company and a red bubble necklace from Walmart.

I love that the color white really takes over this outfit, making it very classy. The chambray top dresses up the look and the bright red necklace is the cherry on top of a festive outfit.

I found the top at Goodwill for $3.99, the capris at Goodwill for $4.99, the wedges last summer at New York and Company for $12 and the necklace at Walmart for $5.

Total | $25.98

2 | Red dress & bold earrings

Dress: Xhilaration from Target | Shoes: Old Navy | Earrings: Tiklari

This sexy red Target dress with the back cutout pairs perfectly with these Old Navy ankle strap block heels and Tiklari statement earrings.

These earrings are my new favorite and are really the showstopper of this outfit. The dress is simple enough, with a bit of spice in the back, and allows the earrings to be front and center, incorporating red and blue. The block heels add a nice pop of white to complete the outfit, and are extremely comfortable, which is most important.

The red dress was $5 from Clothes Mentor, the heels were $12 from Old Navy and I treasure hunted these earrings at an antique mall for only $25. (They are listed on the website for $52!)

Total | $42.00

3 | Off the shoulder blouse & seersucker shorts

Top: Xhilaration from Target | Shorts: J. Crew | Sandals: Loft | Necklace: Handmade

Last I checked, there were no rules against changing the red in red, white and blue to PINK. These soft pink seersucker shorts from J. Crew paired up with my new lace-trimmed off the shoulder blouse from Target create an Independence Day ensemble that is far from the ordinary. I added my Loft rose gold metallic sandals and this handmade flamingo necklace to complete the look.

Off the shoulder shirts are a top trend this summer, and this flowy white one is comfortable and stylish. Picking out one of these blouses with spaghetti straps is beneficial- then the sleeves won't pop up every time you move. I love the idea of incorporating pink instead of red for the Fourth, too.

I just picked up this blouse at my local Target store for $20, but I can't seem to find it online yet. My J. Crew shorts were $10 from Clothes Mentor. The sandals from Loft were only $10 last season, and you can find lots of these handmade necklaces for $8 on sale in the same building as my pop-up boutique.

Total | $48.00

4 | Boho shawl & boyfriend cut offs

Tank top: American Eagle | Kimono: Xhilaration from Target | Shorts: Mossimo from Target | Sandals: Mossimo Supply Co. from Target |
Necklace: vintage | Bracelets: Alex and Ani

The final festive look I put together is for you readers who love bohemian style. This Xhilaration from Target kimono has a multicolor paisley pattern, incorporating the red and blue. (AND you can still buy it here!) I paired it up with a white lace tank top from American Eagle and distressed denim boyfriend shorts by Mossimo from Target. The brown braided Target sandals, vintage elephant necklace and Alex and Ani bracelets add more boho vibes.

I'm a sucker for casual boho style, and this outfit is perfect for more relaxed Fourth of July festivities. The kimono is light and breezy, but the ripped shorts give the look some texture.

I recently found the kimono from Goodwill for $6.99, and the shorts were also a Goodwill find for $3.99. I found the tank top and necklace at a garage sale for $1 each, and the sandals were from a thrift store for $4.99. My dad just brought me back these adorable Alex and Ani bracelets from Las Vegas!

Total | $17.97

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

What I love about all four of these looks is that they incorporate Fourth of July colors without being too "in your face." I mean, who doesn't love a good flag tee from Old Navy, but if you love high fashion like me, you may want to change it up.

The best part is all of these outfits can be worn all summer long, not just for the holiday. When the stars and stripes are lacking, every day can be Independence Day with these styles and colors.

But don't think I'm perfect; I did have to incorporate American flag style somewhere, and what better way to do it than with my handbag selection. Betsey Johnson, of course!

Handbag: Betsey Johnson
I hope these outfit ideas inspire you to pick out something casual, comfortable and festive of your own, all with a fashionable twist.

If you are cooking out, hanging out or just enjoying the local fireworks display, I hope your Fourth of July is filled with budget-friendly fashion and the greatest summer memories.

Mwah!
