Winter Stylebook | Valentine's Day

February 12, 2019

Last week, I posted a Winter Stylebook featuring an athleisure outfit that would be comfortable AND cute to celebrate Galentine's Day with your ladies. This week's Stylebook is about the Valentine's Day outfit.

Although a night in with pizza and sweets and binge-watching is more my date night kind of speed, we all know how nice it is to have your significant other take you out, show you off and treat you to something special. And when they plan the whole thing?  *swoon*

The look I put together for V-Day might not be black-tie appropriate, but it has a great mix of casual and dressy pieces. You can rock this outfit if you're headed to a laid-back restaurant, the movies, or any other unique date idea. It's simple with a hint of glam and a touch of sexy.

Here's what I put together:

First, let's talk about this coat because I LOVE. THIS. COAT. I picked it up last year from Old Navy because the color was dreamy and the silhouette was classy. It's the Soft-Brushed Button-Front Coat and it was so popular that they brought it back this year in the same blush pink shade, along with a coral color AND a beautiful black/white marled style that you may have spotted on my Instagram story because I just couldn't resist. I don't wear this piece as an everyday coat, but more as a jacket/blazer that I pair with outfits. It is very soft and lightweight; perfect for layering.

Speaking of layering, underneath the coat I layered a black and white speckled mock neck sweater. It's Apt. 9 from Kohl's and I found it at a resale store, but you can shop a very similar sweater from Old Navy here. It's also super soft and I love how the print pops against the pink color of the coat.

The denim I'm wearing is none other than my favorite a.n.a. jeggings from JCPenney. I chose a lighter wash pair for this look because they look simple and sexy next to the rest of the pieces. They also have lots of comfortable stretch so you don't even feel like you're wearing jeans, which can be our little secret!

These nude heels are the Gemma Pump from the A New Day line at Target. This style comes in a variety of colors. It has a pointed toe, which I personally think adds a little va-va-VOOM to the outfit.  To further my accessory game, I added on Lucky Brand heart hoop earrings I found last year at Marshall's and they are hands down one of my favorite accessories; they're so playful. Nothing says flirty like heart hoops. I also added on my new marbleized bangle bracelet from the Kate Spade Outlet and finally, my grey suede Kate Spade bag was a Poshmark steal for less than $100.

What I love about this outfit is that it combines both casual and classy pieces to create a very romantic and polished look. The blush pink color of the coat and the heart earrings are sweet little touches to recognize the holiday, but you could truly wear this outfit for any fun occasion in the winter and early spring. It's one that will make you feel like a total boss babe. (And that's prob cause you ARE.)
