Resale Racks: Styling for Winter

January 18, 2018

Happy Thursday to my lovely readers!

I treated myself to a four day weekend last week and I am feeling more refreshed, recharged and inspired than I have in a while! I spent time with family and friends, did some well overdue thrifting, finished a book and cleaned up the mess that had piled up in my room.
I also met up with my fellow #ladyboss Brig over at Hilltop Photo Co. to shoot this outfit I am featuring on the blog today.

I decided to start a "resale racks" series this year as a way to highlight looks incorporating some of my latest resale and thrift finds. I want to share more of my deals and ideas with you and by putting it together in an outfit, I can provide you with style AND shopping inso!

This week's look takes on winter with a chic approach through this LOFT leopard jacquard coat I stumbled upon at Clothes Mentor. Although this piece is from their 2015 winter collection, the silhouette, print and colors of this coat are all still on trend. The coat has two front zipper pockets and buttons at the neck.

There are so many different kinds of coats; you have your puffer styles for extra cold days, peacoats for a professional look, fleeces, parkas, etc. But this jacquard style is sure to make you feel like a she-warrior ready to own the day. I found this coat shopping resale for only $40- and it still had the LOFT price tag on it for $168! I couldn't pass it up- it was brand new!

I really love the statement this piece makes, so I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple, and I mean REALLY simple. I wore my LC Lauren Conrad black leggings from Kohl's with a black high neck swing tank from Old Navy- two of my closet's basic necessities! Only one neutral shade underneath so as not to take away from the coat.

For shoes, these black Sam and Libby heeled ankle boots from Target were a $4.99 Goodwill find a couple years ago, but they are still favorites in my book. The chunky style pairs great with leggings or jeans, and the wide heel makes them comfortable to wear throughout the day.

Last but DEFINITELY not least, my faux Yves Saint Laurent bag was a recent consignment steal for only $50- easily one of my favorite finds and it really ties this look together! The classic style has a convertible strap so it can be worn either as a shoulder bag or longer. The black leather is soft and there is plenty of room inside for all my belongings.

This outfit is the perfect way to get out of the winter funk and make a chic statement. I would wear this look for a GNO or date night.

Although the stores are quickly wheeling out the latest spring fashions, the other exciting news is that winter items are hitting the clearance racks. If you're searching for a coat that compliments your style, now is the time to look!
