If you've been following along with my Instagram posts, you have probably noticed that I've been traveling this past week. Every summer and winter, Adam and I visit our favorite getaway spot, The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa in Fontana, Wisconsin.
It's only about two hours from the Chicagoland suburbs, and it is conveniently only 15 minutes from downtown Lake Geneva, which is a popular tourist destination for lake life in Wisconsin.
We LOVE it there. The resort is always fabulous, and being on the lake feels like a home away from home for us.
For today's post, I'm providing a style journal from my trip. From all of my #ootd's to the swimsuits I was beach bummin' in, I'm giving the scoop on all of it.
Day | 1
Top: Old Navy | Shorts: Old Navy | Jacket: Old Navy | Sandals: Aerosoles | Bag: Michael Kors |
This look: $33 (Old Navy clearance and Marshalls)
After we arrived and got settled, we wanted to hit the pool right away. I brought four swimsuits with me and wore three of them, which you will see in this post.
Swimsuit: Old Navy |
I'll talk more about my swimsuits at the end, but the suit I chose for the first day was this bright orange number from Old Navy. The top is sold out, but the bottoms are currently available for $5.99, and I've linked them here.
This look: $18 (Old Navy outlet)
Day | 2
Dress: Target | Sandals: JCPenney | Hat: Target |
This dress is actually a swimsuit coverup! But I just love the low back cutout, so I threw on a bandeau and made it a sundress. Flowy and comfy! I wore it through our whole day out in downtown Lake Geneva for shopping.
This look: $32 (Goodwill and JCP coupons)
Swimsuit: Mossimo from Target top and bottom |
This look: $16 (Goodwill and Target sales)
Dress: Merona from Target | Sandals: Aerosoles | Necklace: Old Navy | Hat: Target |
This look: $22 (Goodwill, Marshalls and Old Navy clearance)
Day | 3
Swimsuit: Old Navy |
This look: $24 (Old Navy sales)
Top: Grace Elements | Skirt: Croft and Borrow | Sandals: Michael Kors | Necklace: Crystal Ship Vintage |
This look: $19 (Goodwill and TJ Maxx)
As I mentioned before, I was going to chat more about my suit choices later in this post. The reason for that is to emphasize how extremely important it is to find a suit (or three) that make you feel truly confident. Find a style that fits your body type AND your personality. I really can't stress that enough.
For quite a few years, I've been purchasing my swimsuits from Target, but I've always been uncomfortable in them. The bottoms are too low cut for my wide hips. I'm definitely not saying there is anything wrong with swimsuits from Target, because I obviously wore one that fit perfectly on the second day of the trip! But if you aren't 110% comfortable in a suit you try on, keep searching for the right one for your body shape. My two Old Navy suits come up higher on my hips, aren't tight on my curves and make me feel confident enough to swim all day. I am beyond happy I gave them a shot, as you can probably tell!
