The top three (of many) fall accessories I am ready to break out

September 11, 2015

Hello, hello, fashionistas!

Fall weather is just around the corner, I can feel it! I've been getting totally impatient these days when it comes to fall fashion. I just want to wear it all NOW!

As I am planning my outfits for the week, I am starting to get bored with the same old sundresses, shorts and sandals. Can we bring on the cozy sweaters and riding boots, please?!

If I wore my favorite sweater to school now, I would be sweating my butt off. But hey, a girl can dream of cooler days...

Which leads me to today's post: the top three fall accessories I'm patiently (or maybe not so patiently) waiting for! There are plenty of fall accessories and fashion trends that I am really looking forward to, but I've decided to narrow it down to my top three.

#1: Boho hats

Maroon hat: Target Clearance- $10

I love a good hat. But, I typically sacrifice them in the summer because of the heat. Summer sun equals sweaty hat hair, and that is not a look I can pull off very well.

Although the boho hat trend was still a must throughout the summer, I just couldn't make it work due to the weather. But now, I am totally excited that this trend is carrying over into the fall. I can't wait to finally wear mine!

Black hat: Target- Goodwill find $4

In the spring, I scored this awesome brown hat from Target. It was on clearance for only $10! I only had the chance to wear it once before the temperatures increased, so I am more than ready to wear this one.

Along with my brown hat, I've also found black and maroon boho hats at Goodwill, Target, etc.

There are so many great ways to make a boho hat complete your fall outfit. Personally, I am planning to pair my brown hat with a flowy black dress and a jean jacket. Pairing boho hats with oversized sweaters is also a great look for the fall. A black boho hat with a plaid button-up and jeans would make the perfect ensemble.

How do you plan to wear a boho hat? Here's the next one I have my eye on.

#2: My new (and first) Rebecca Minkoff handbag

Never in a million years did I think I would be able to afford a Rebecca Minkoff handbag. I thought, hey, maybe when I get my big girl job, I can sell my soul for a small crossbody. (better known as the mini M.A.C.)

But, BEHOLD:

Rebecca Minkoff Leo Tote in Mexi Flower- $90

Near the end of summer break, I went to browse around the Fashion Outlets of Chicago. I ended up in Neiman Marcus Last Call, where I found this colorful bag on the clearance table for only $90.

Now, if you know Rebecca Minkoff, you know that I wouldn't even be able to touch a small crossbody for $90. This Leo Tote in the Mexi Flower pattern is so bold and bright. It's different than anything else I have in my closet, which I think is why I am so attracted to it.

I love the large satchel style. The reds and blacks in this bag are perfect for the fall, and I can't wait to carry it around and show it off. A great bag for an even greater deal; that's how the Fashionable Fox does it!

#3: Plaid Scarves

Scarf: Vintage Goodwill find- $1. Jean jacket: Ann Taylor LOFT- $35
Plaid has been a big deal for the fall for quite some time now, but starting last winter, the plaid scarf really began to step onto the scene more and more.

Flannel, fleece or knit, plaid scarves can take the average cable knit sweater from drab to fab. You can wear these scarves with cute coats, or just with your outfit. Any plaid pattern will look great with a neutral color, like brown or black.

Plaid blanket scarves are another big trend from last winter that have made it back this fall. Here's how I styled my blanket scarf last year:

Scarf: Aerie- $10
If plaid shirts aren't your thing, you can always slap on a plaid scarf with a denim top or chunky sweater to still enjoy the trend. Plus, with so many different ways to tie your scarf, you can make one work with any kind of ensemble.

When the weather starts to get cooler, you'll want to do anything to stay warm. Lucky enough, the plaid scarf is both warm AND trendy. Say helloooo to your new fall/winter best friend.

*****

All this talk about fall accessories makes me even more anxious for the cooler weather. There's just something about that crisp fall air that makes life feel a little more relaxed. And if you're a sucker for a pumpkin spice latte, I'm sure you feel even more cozy during this time of year.

What kinds of accessories and/or outfits are you looking most forward to for the fall? If you are needing some outfit inspiration when the time comes, don't forget to check out my "Perfect for Fall" Pinterest board. I have been pinning to it daily!
