Spring Time and New York City

Hello there stylish divas!

The Fashionable Fox is officially BACK!

My New York City adventure was absolutely fabulous! So fabulous in fact that I've been in a total slump ever since I've arrived back home- all I want to do is be back there!

New York City was incredible- from the lights to the energy to the FASHION, this city is absolutely breathtaking. If you haven't visited NYC yet, be sure to plan a trip in the future! But if you already have visited, or live there for that matter, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

With a trendy place to shop everywhere you turned, and with all the style inspiration around the city, it was very very difficult for me to not buy everything I loved. Plus, I didn't want to go overboard spending money. But there was one item I just had to invest in:

It was love at first sight when I saw this watch in the Swatch store at Times Square. I mean, c'mon, a watch with colorful macarons all over it? It doesn't get much more fun than that. I didn't mind spending some cash on this little guy, especially since I can brag that I purchased it in Times Square. And I had to splurge just a pinch. After all, this is NYC we are talking about!

I could be here for days typing up my miraculous adventure in New York to you all, but I'd rather just tell you to experience it for yourself. It's a wonderful world there!

But to continue with my post, it's time to talk spring! There are so many trends I'm excited about this spring, and lucky for you, I put together four different looks of my own to share. Not only do these outfits scream spring, but they also scream savings!

Here's the first one I put together:
As badly as I want summer to get here so I can wear all of my skirts and dresses, one fall/winter trend I don't want to sneak away is denim tops. I can't exactly wear my long sleeve denim shirt when the weather warms up though. Lucky for me, I found this totally cute collared short-sleeve denim shirt at Goodwill for three bucks! Not only does it work great for the warmer months, but it's also perfect for the fall and winter to layer under sweaters, instead of stuffing a long sleeve one underneath. I just recently found this skirt at a resale shop. It's Ann Taylor LOFT, and was only $12! The color combo is definitely for spring; light orange on top and a layer of pink on the bottom. The stripes on the skirt also give it a nautical feel, so if you are dreaming of summer days, this is the skirt for you! The soft canvas material is also very comfortable for warm days. I paired the outfit with an orange bubble necklace from Coldwater Creek, but I snagged it for $5 at an antique store. I also threw in a pair of tan wedges from Target, another Goodwill find. The skirt is a bit longer, so a pair of wedges will really emphasize the outfit, your legs, and the fact that it is nice enough for sandals.

The next outfit I styled has a more bohemian feel to it, a style trend I've been obsessed with lately. This adorable cream color dress is a lace-eyelet material, and has a twisted rope belt that ties in the front. (a $6 find!) I added on an Arizona Jeans denim vest from JCP to give the look a little something extra! The necklace is a blue and pink lucky elephant, which definitely brings the bohemian style all together. I would pair a look like this with a simple pair of brown gladiator sandals.

This outfit is taking on a more summer approach with its nautical theme, but the sleeves of the blazer allow it to still be spring worthy! (right??) The nautical trend is very much one of my favorite parts of summer; from jewelry to dresses, I don't mind repping the big blue ocean at all! I just found these Merona bright coral-colored shorts at Goodwill for $3. I found the lightweight Merona striped blazer at Goodwill last season for $6. I threw a basic grey shirt underneath, and added one of my favorite pieces, my seashell Betsey Johnson necklace that I found at a resale store for $14! Basic sandals with this outfit, and you're ready for a beach-themed day!

The last outfit I styled is more spring than summer. I fell in love with this shirt when Gap released it last spring, and I finally found one at Goodwill a few weeks ago for $5! It's your classic boyfriend button-up with a sweet teacup print all over. I rolled up the sleeves for a cute cuffed look. (plus it will keep you cooler in the spring sunshine!) I tucked the shirt into a bright pink Merona canvas skirt that I snagged for six dollars. Button the shirt up to the top and add on a statement necklace, like this pink bubble one I have here from Charming Charlie. I would pair this with a nice pair of nude flats or simple sandals that match.

I had so much fun putting these outfits together; mostly because I am so excited for warmer weather. But also because there are a lot of spring styles to enjoy! If you are in a total winter slump still, and the cold weather put a damper on finding spring inspiration, I hope these outfits get your style juices flowing! I will also provide you with Pantone's Spring 2014 Color Fashion Report, so you can dig through your closet for colors and start piecing things together!

Well- that's it for this post. As the weather is beginning to warm up where I am, I hope it is doing the same for you all as well. I am totally ready to pack away the jeans and display my sun dresses! Happy spring outfit building!

Think happy thoughts-
